|MARINA BANCROFT paints from her home studio in Beaconsfield, Quebec. She has a background in biological sciences and continued her education by taking fine arts courses at Concordia University. While busy raising four sons, Marina fed her passion for the visual arts by taking workshops in many areas including watercolour, acrylics, collage and experimental mixed media with noted local artists.
She enjoys working with a variety of materials on paper and canvas. The canvas, for her, has a certain feel to it that allows images to come through. Marina is delighted to observe the mystery as patterns emerge out of chaos only to fall back into the unknown. By approaching the work intuitively she can best bring together natural and man-made elements into a painting that feels complete. The meaning becomes clear later and may change over time. Part of the fascination with this process is the viewer’s response to the suggestive shapes and forms.
She has exhibited at: Galerie de la Ville (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC), Centennial Hall (Beaconsfield, QC), Peter B. Yeomans Cultural Centre (Dorval, QC), Galerie Art Neuf (Montreal, QC), Cornwall Regional Art Gallery (Cornwall, ON), Stewart Hall Art Gallery (Pointe-Claire, QC), Ogilvy-Tudor Hall (Montreal, QC), Galerie Ouest (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC), Percy Thomson Gallery (Stratford, NZ), Fritz Farm (Baie-d’Urfé, QC), Visual Voice Gallery (Montreal, QC), and Galerie d’Art Sinfonia di Colori (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC). Her works are part of public and private collections.
