Laura P.Y was born in Taiwan. She studied brush methods and techniques of Chinese painting in Taiwan. In addition to painting, she has had a great interest in Chinese calligraphy since childhood.
Since her migration to Canada in 1985, she studied still life, portraits and figures. She has experimented with a variety of mediums such as pastel, watercolours and oil. She has acquired valuable skills and knowledge under the instruction of numerous respected artists in Montreal, including Max Stiebel, Maher Yacoub, Nasco Kakafadarow, and the late John Walsh.
In her view, to be a successful artist, one should not only read and practice constantly, but also have the ability to express distinct personality in their work. |
